Edinburgh delight at their hard-fought win
The visitors, who had previously won only one of their last seven away games in all competitions since September, triumphed thanks largely to a try from Argentinian winger Francisco Leonelli.

A penalty from Duncan Hodge and a drop goal from Rory Lawson in the first half gave the Gunners a narrow lead with Lee Thomas notching the Blues' only score before the break.

Leonelli's five-pointer, converted by Hodge, proved enough to give them the win but Leinster's big win over Border Reviers meant the Scots drop to third in the table.

Both sides had opted to ring the changes for the clash and that, combined with the cold and wet conditions, prompted numerous unforced errors in the opening period.

Hodge opened the scoring with a successful kick from 40 yards after the Blues were caught offside, but missed with a drop goal attempt shortly after.

However, where he failed, his teammate Rory Lawson succeeded soon after despite calls that Hodge had knocked on when under pressure.

Thomas' penalty was the only other highlight of what was largely a dire first half.

Another successful attempt from the Blues' flyhalf gave them the lead in the second period and things got worse for the Gunners when prop Alasdair Dickinson was shown a yellow card.

But the Blues blew failed to capitalise, and a further error enabled centre Phil Godman to hack a dropped pass downfield before collecting and sending Leonelli in for the score before Hodge added the extras.
